About:
Founded over 20 years ago as a decorative decoy carving shop,
Big Sky Carvers has grown to become the gift and home
accessory leader in sculpture, tabletop, occasional furniture,
Christmas, picture frames and other gifts that reflect outdoor
lifestyles. The combination of top-notch domestic manufacturing
and strong importing prowess from several countries uniquely
position Big Sky to make and or import over 1500 SKUs varied in
nature from coffee tables to Christmas ornaments.
The Situation:
The team at Big Sky Carvers was searching for an
enterprise-wide solution that would deliver accurate,
real-time inventory information throughout its
organization and to its network of independent
retailers.
Marc Pierce, co-founder and CEO of Big Sky Carvers, said, "Our previous Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system was geared mainly toward manufacturing. As our business started to evolve into a mix of manufacturing and cross-stocking, we realized that we needed higher-quality, real-time inventory availability information in order to set customer expectations, meet those expectations and boost customer satisfaction."

The Solution:
The Verticent ERP Plus system now helps Big Sky
Carvers quantify promise-dates with sufficient and
accurate enterprise information.
ERP Plus is suite of integrated e-business, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions that allows Big Sky Carvers to streamline enterprise operations such as: demand forecasting, ordering product to meet projected demand, managing orders into its warehouse and managing product distribution.
Big Sky also needed a rapid system implementation. The Verticent PSO team worked with Big Sky to go live - quickly.
"Verticent's Professional Services Organization (PSO) helped us go live in just 90 days. From the start we were anxious to gain the benefit of real-time inventory information, which we now have, and today we are operating our company with support from ERP Plus," Pierce said.
Big Sky Carvers also is using the Verticent CRM solution, called SFA Plus, for sales force automation, contact management and marketing campaign tracking.
