Inventory Optimization
Do I have the material my customer is looking for?
What is the best way to process my customer’s order with the least amount of scrap?
What is the best material to apply to a customer order based on: Cost, Quality, Remnants, Material on order, Material in house, existing jobs (nesting)?
These are all questions that can be quickly and easily answered with Verticent’s powerful inventory optimizer. Automatically identifying and applying material on the fly with your customer on the telephone, giving them not only the confidence that what they ordered is what you will deliver to them, but also providing a real-time “Capable-To-Promise” delivery date.

The inventory optimizer is a standard utility in the Verticent solution; it uses your business rules and logic in determining best practices. The screens above are an example of these rules and how you can incorporate them into the Verticent solution without any custom programming. Once you have defined your best practices, the inventory optimizer will look at all variables and come up with the best solution based on your needs. An example - during sales order entry, the user enters the customer’s desired attributes and characteristics. Verticent’s “Optimizer” then searches your inventory to match up the best material based on the customer needs. This “best” material definition is user defined and can include least cost, FIFO, use up odd sizes first, etc. Whatever the criteria, Verticent’s inventory optimizer generates a graphical cut list, slitting layout or cutting plan that is available for the warehouse.
