Verticent’s Material Resource Planning (MRP) is of special value to metals companies, as it will take into account the dimensional requirements of an order, and give instructions to either purchase or manufacture material if needed.  MRP facilitates the creation of either purchase orders or manufacturing work orders to support customer order demand, as well as alerting the planner of any past due orders.

Other action messages displayed to the planner in MRP include:

• Reschedule messages
• Past due order messages
• Transfer order messages
• Cancel order messages

Purchase orders can have separate purchase and pricing units of measure.  For example, orders may be placed in tons but priced by hundredweight.  Additionally, freight surcharges and other charges may be tracked separately or consolidated into a roll-up price.  All dimensional and attribute characteristics can be specified at the PO level.
