A sales representative can quickly look up information about a customer’s past quotes, orders and current credit status.
Within a quote or a sales order, multi-step routing, outside processing, customer specifications and packaging requirements can all be entered.
Sales Order Configuration
Verticent’s unique Configurator functionality allows for the pre-creation of order and routing templates based on product profiles such as coil, sheet, tube, etc. For example, when Service Center XYZ takes an order for slit coil, specifications and options will be displayed unique to the requirements of coil slitting, such as max coil weight and max lift weight. The ability to create these kinds of templates reduces data entry requirements and the risk of error at data entry. Once an order has been taken, the Configurator also automatically indicates routings and bill of materials for this specific type of order. This information is automatically passed on to Capacity Planning and Optimization utilities within the Verticent suite.
Another unique advantage of the Verticent application is the Optimizer. The Optimizer evaluates and nests order demand against available inventory and presents the most efficient material usage for maximum yield, least amount of material handling and most effective remnant creation. Margin and yield information are then displayed back to the sales representative.
The Capacity planning utility computes the earliest capable to promise date based on current order demand and work center availability and displays information to the sales representative. This information can then be shared with the customer.
Pricing can be calculated in hundredweight, piece, foot, square foot and many other units of measure unique to the metals industry.
Sales order and shipping information can be communicated to customers via EDI, email, or fax. Verticent’s application may be integrated with many of the popular EDI transport services. Additionally, information may be received via flat file.
